Brett Wisely on the Move Again - Traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Tampa Bay Rays
Giants Acquire Young Outfielder Tristan Peters in Deal
Wisely Heads to Tampa Bay in Roster Crunch Move
Former Milwaukee Brewers infielder Brett Wisely has been on the move again, this time being traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Giants acquired Wisely in a November 2022 trade with the Brewers for reliever Trevor Rosenthal.
Wisely, the youngest of seven siblings, has a reputation for being a versatile player with a strong work ethic. He can play both first and third base and is known for his ability to make solid contact at the plate.
The Giants traded Wisely to the Rays in exchange for minor league outfielder Tristan Peters. Peters is a 22-year-old outfielder who was drafted by the Giants in the 15th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He spent the 2022 season with the Giants' Class-A affiliate, the San Jose Giants, where he batted .272 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs.
The trade is a roster crunch move for the Rays, who are trying to clear space for some of their young prospects. Wisely is expected to provide depth for the Rays at first and third base.
